From this we can identify specific management zones based on margin, yield or soil constraints with the utilisation of spatial soil sampling, spatial DNA sampling for disease susceptibility, pH maps, conductivity maps, elevation maps, crop season NDVI imagery, yield maps and crop financial maps.

Soil analysis is the key to efficient management. Our consultancy services offer in depth spatial analysis and explanation of soil results enabling you as the customer to understand how to use the information to your best advantage. AGree can produce nutrient management plans from soil and crop constraints.
AGree offer DNA sampling for disease susceptibility. Samples can be taken spatially enabling management decisions for seed treatments, in furrow inoculants and nutrient applications to be made either on whole paddocks or utilising variable rate application maps. These ‘Predicta-B’ samples are able to test for soil borne pathogens such as:
- Cereal cyst nematode (Heterodera avenae)
- Take-all (Gaeumannomyces graminis var tritici (Ggt) and G. graminis var avenae (Gga))
- Rhizoctonia barepatch (Rhizoctonia solani AG8)
- Crown rot (Fusarium pseudograminearum and F. culmorum)
- Root lesion nematode (Pratylenchus neglectus and P. thornei)
- Stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci)
- Blackspot of peas (Mycosphaerella pinodes, Phoma medicaginis var pinodella and Phoma koolunga)

Microbial analysis for beneficial bacteria and fungi such as Mycorrhiza, Trychoderma and Bacillus can be expensive however so can an application of beneficial microbes where it is not needed. Under certain circumstances the justification for a test can be beneficial especially in high value crops covering smaller areas or possibly where the use of Myccorrhizal Fungi to combat Rhizoctonia is proposed in a management zone. The use of biologicals presents itself as confusing with many opinions and companies promoting products. AGree consultants are happy to help clarify the area and to discuss the testing and use of these beneficial biologicals.
Soil ameliorants are used across the spectrum of agriculture with varying success. AGree consultants are happy to advise based on soil analysis a soil health programme to include products that are locally available. We advise that for manures and products with unknown analysis that samples are taken before recommendations are made to ensure correct products at the correct rates are used. The benefits of soil organic matter have been researched and published; however the use of manures and poor composts can result in nutrition draw down and excess nutrients which are either leached or cause other minerals to become less available to the plant.
